At The Mixed Museum, we not only want to preserve and share Britain's long history of racial mixing but provide a range of creative and accessible pathways to this history. To help, in 2022 we introduced our Artist in Residence partnerships.
In collaboration with artists and creatives - from multiple disciplines and genres - we explore innovative methods to share and reflect on the history in our collection, as well as create new material inspired by this history. We also provide a platform to help them reach a new audience. Our AIRs help provide new insights into familiar stories as well as challenge our ideas of museum curation, presentation and engagement.
